FUTURE*NOSTALGIA IS HERE

A collection of many little things, the banalities, the little everyday things that ultimately become the sum of your life.

Sometimes we forget about that. I forget about that.

Living life through the pandemic was a process: sometimes I was struggling with jobs, then I was struggling with the city I was living in. I was dealing with anxiety, I felt alone and missunderstood. My heart was still broken despite me desperately trying to tell everyone it was not. I was struggling creatively, I was searching for meaning again and nothing was coming my way. No idea was good enough, no photo was giving me the joy I was used to. All this time I wanted to make a new book but my head was just_this_empty. I could*nt get my head around it.

I was living but i was*nt living.

Last year my dad passed away while I was in New York City. While I was looking for something that bring back my joy, he was fighting for his life. While I was spending money on things I do not need, he was laying in a hospital bed gasping for air. I was trying to catch up in time and get to him, but cancer got him faster and I could*nt even say goodbye.

This is also life. This is the life that was given to me. And I am trying to make the best of it. I am capturing beautiful things just so I can experience life as something beautiful despite its being full of tragedy. My dad was proud of me but he never told. He was silently watching. As he is still.

I grew as a human being. I was striving to survive even more. Give me that one sunset. Give me that one kiss. Give me something i won*t forget. I take pictures… so I won*t ever forget.

This book is all I ever wanted to do. Because all I ever wanted was everything.

Its my process of dealing with life.

Its my future nostalgia.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it for you.

Take care

Andre
